Unlike most love stories we hear, Hanna & Saif didn’t have it easy from the start. Cultural differences and adversities were constantly put in their way, only to see if what they wanted was worth fighting for. She said to me, “Obstacles do not block our paths Vishal. They are the path. Overcoming them is what makes like meaningful!” And just like the river they got married in front of, their love went on and on to reach this day.

Ever since I was a little kid, it was a dream to have a picture of my family dinner with all the people I love. Many years on I learnt one more thing. The reason for our success lies in the crew we nurture. I cannot do this alone. To make 350 loving documentary films over 10 years is no small feat. You need a crew. A family to have your back on days you can’t carry on. You know the joy you feel when you dream of something but then the reality is even better? That is what this dinner felt like. This is us. Celebrating A Decade of Dreams. ❤️(PS: This was the moment we were told there was going to be a lockdown! 🤣)

When filming Pernia and Sahil’s wedding, it dawned on me that we just witnessed one of the most graceful bridal entrances ever! But it wasn’t just Pernia’s stunning designs and impeccable taste that stood out. It wasn’t just the joy and warmth of their friends and family that made this easy and it wasn’t the near perfect weather that made this wedding so memorable. It was the hope they left us with. Hope that we’re better together, and not alone.⁣

In eleven years of filming weddings, I haven't been prouder of my team! When Devika Narain contacted me to film this wedding, it was pretty late in the day and the truth was we have been stretched thin with weddings piling up due to the pandemic. She arranged a meeting in his home and upon meeting them, I instantly knew this would be special. The fear of not being able to do justice was very present in my heart but Neha Sharma, Kunal Singh Abhijeet Datta and Rajit Kalra assured they had my back, and after filming the first day, I left for Paris for another shoot. The following days, they shot with respect, love and a lot of laughter, Vijay Sehgal arranged for the edit to happen exactly how it should and Sagar Desai worked his magic with a song penned by Shraddha Sehgal just for us. Their love story stood the test of time and inspired this song. This is how wedding films are made in our studio. There are so many layers to this glimpse of Gopalika and Dhruv’s first dance to ‘Fools Rush In’ on their wedding night!From the time the champagne pops at the exact moment the guitars kick in, to the way they hold each other when they dance as Devangi Chopra declares - only the foolish fall in love quickly - in song. How comforting to know that’s their exact same story!“It is impossible to find the forever wala kind of love in just three months!” Gopalika states!“Would it be a sin?” the song asks.And then the way Gopalika looks at Dhruv and smiles, ‘I can’t help’ but feel my heart become full!Devangi’s father, Gaurav Chopra lent his voice for the Alaap making it even more special because that’s when the layers of a father-daughter relationship unfold in the visuals. We see her father and her exchange kisses before she holds Dhruv’s hand, with certainty, as her father looks on with approval and pride.We witness her Hindu wedding, with three of the most relevant steps.The promise around the fire, the gold necklace around her neck and the colour red in her ‘maang’. When my friend, Avinay, called me and told me he proposed to his long time girlfriend, beautiful and talented Akanksha, he asked if we could film his wedding. We agreed in a heartbeat and boy am I glad we did!Everything about that night was magical! Akanksha was at her cutest best, sticking her tongue out during her bridal entry, giggling and winking as her dreams came true in front of her. Avinay the handsomest he’s ever been, had a twinkle in his eye when he saw her walking to him, to the sound of bells, ready to marry!The Wedding Filmer’s favourite wedding singer, Devangi Chopra, lent her voice for a cover of the couple’s favourite song which she entered on!

When a wedding is so beautiful that one edit simply won’t do. Don’t miss Avinay’s Batman kurta made by his wife! Akanksha also designed Devangi’s outfit, which kind of matches her Mehndi outfit. I wanted to film Devangi’s bits by the beach (I don’t know what I was thinking, considering we live in Populous Bombay! At 5:30am it was as crowded as a train station!) Very quickly we changed the location to The Wedding Filmer studio and realised there’s no place like home when it’s so early in the morning!

Our life is a culmination of the small moments that make our destiny. Varsha found Harshit in the same way! He made her happy in ways she’d always dreamt about and she sang a beautiful song at their wedding to tell him what he means to her. Presenting, ‘Tum Mere Hue’ by Varsha Jain.

Every once in a while, we get to film a wedding that gives ‘scale’ a whole new meaning! But bigger than the events was the heart of this groom. We all found a brother in Rahul! He’s the only groom in the whole world who still calls me ‘Bhaiya’. Happy happy anniversary Rahul & Malika! May both of you always be the glue to your family!
